Deuteronomy 8:2

 

"Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the desert these forty-years, to humble you and to test you, in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commandments."

 

Biblical exhortations to "remember" abound, and they jog our memory to keep us from forgetting God's loving activity on our behalf. When we remember the mighty acts of God, we are better equipped for the future. When Moses stood at the entrance to the Promised Land, he knew the nation God forged in the wilderness had very challenging days ahead. Before passing leadership to Joshua, he called a family meeting to remind them of their history. Today's verse calls us to "remember" what God has done for us so that we might be better prepared for the challenges we face.
